Caltech hosted a stop on the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour on March 24, 2004 in Ramo Auditorium. The following is the advert from our club:

From ice-climbing in the Canadian Rockies to paragliding in the Himalayas, from the nomadic lives of Tibetan herders to the climbing adventures of Biscuit the dog, this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour captures the spirit of mountain adventure. Be part of that adventure when the festival comes to The Caltech Ramo Auditorium on March 24th 2004 at 7:30 pm.

Films in this year's tour will take you to the ends of the earth and to adventures to be found in your own backyard. Featuring a wide variety of stories - from mountain sports, to mountain culture and environment - the festival explores virtually every corner of the globe, including Iceland, Norway, Mexico, Nepal, Bhutan, Montserrat, China, Siberia, Italy, Pakistan, Croatia, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States.

Tour highlights are plentiful. Front Range Freaks: Biscuit (3') profiles a small dog with a big appetite for rock climbing. A Man Called Nomad (39') examines the dilemma of nomadic herders caught in the interface between their traditional lifestyle and the changing world around them. Wehyakin (36') follows a crew of international paddlers as they plunge through spectacular white water in Iceland, Norway, and Mexico. The Other Final (53') tells the story of a game between the lowest-ranked teams in international soccer - Bhutan and Montserrat. Played against a mountainous Bhutanese backdrop on the same day as the World Cup Final, this match is more about the love of sport than the final score.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is produced by Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre. The tour includes award-winning films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival, an annual event held in early November at The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada. This year over 300 entries from 38 countries were entered in competition.

The world tour spans the globe, making its way to North and South America, Europe, South Africa, India, Poland and Iceland. Experience the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour with The Caltech Alpine Club and the Outland Mountain Shop in The Caltech Ramo Auditorium on March 24th 2004 at 7:30 PM.

Tickets were $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
