If you consider yourself primarily a boulderer, then the Buttermilk country near Bishop is your first destination. Seriously, don't mess around with the Happies or the Sads. And please don't go to Stoney or Tramway or any other local So Cal spot. Just get in the car, go to Bishop, find a place to camp, get a guide (there are many), and go to the buttermilks. If you are crazy strong, then just go straight to the Mandala and send. If you are more like me and V2-V5 is your gig, then get started at the Birthday boulders and explore around. Eventually you'll happen upon the Iron Man traverse, one of the coolest V4 boulder problems that I've ever done. Once you've ticked that, Go Granny Go, is an epic V5. And when you're ready to push it, The Cave Route in the Cave (duh) is a rad V6!
